Indianapolis, USA – April 2025 – Mirka has inaugurated its first production facility outside Europe. Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, the new unit strengthens Mirka’s presence in the strategically important North American market and marks a major milestone in the company’s global growth journey.

Mirka has been active in the United States for over 30 years through its own sales subsidiary Mirka USA. With the opening of this state-of-the-art facility, the company now brings local production closer to its US customer base.

“The timing is nearly perfect. With this production facility in the US, we are reinforcing our position in a key market and enhancing our competitiveness. It also provides a solid foundation for future growth,” says Stefan Sjöberg, CEO of Mirka. “This strategic investment is a vital step in our ambition to be closer to our customers and to meet their increasing demands for fast delivery and flexibility.”

The Indianapolis facility is a conversion unit, where large jumbo rolls of abrasive materials are processed and refined into finished products tailored for the American market. This model mirrors the successful unit already operating at Mirka’s European distribution center in Belgium and supports Mirka’s strategy to strengthen its presence across major global markets.

The site is led by Donnie Hartley, an experienced industry professional who oversees day-to-day operations and the ramp-up of production.

“Mirka is a company with a strong forward-looking spirit,” says Hartley. “It’s exciting to be part of this milestone and to help launch Mirka’s first conversion unit outside Europe.”

The facility features a high level of automation and, once fully operational, will employ approximately 30 people. Production activities have already begun, and the facility was formally commissioned in April 2025.
